To ensure that all sermons are able to be displayed beautifully and clean, whether churches have an image assign or not, we are looking at making some improvements to the Advanced Sermons default grid view. These improvements include adding a small border around each sermon and condensing the overall footprint. We would love feedback from the Advanced Sermons community if this is an improvement you would like us to roll out in the next coming update. See the attached image below for a sneak peak.

In Advanced Sermons 2.8 we will be adding a new field to the series taxonomy. The new field will allow users to enter the start date of the series. This gives users more information about the series and it's timeline. This new field does not control the order of the series are displayed in.

We're revamping the way sermon and series images are displayed on the frontend. We're switching over to an aspect ratio approach in version 2.8. This will ensure churches can display their full sermon image without it getting cropped out.

In Advanced Sermons Pro 1.8 you will now be able to embed any audio file to display on the single sermon template.

We have now made it so when there are no videos applied to a sermon, the sermon featured image will not display on the single sermon template where the video player would be. If a video is applied, it will display the video player only as normal. This will be released in Advanced Sermons 2.8.

Since the launch of Advanced Sermons we have had a handful of requests to make the archive and single sermon templates overridable. We are happy to announce that this will be in the release of Advanced Sermons 2.8. We will include online documentation on how to override these files in your theme or child theme upon the release.

Frequently, we have been getting the question if Advanced Sermons is able to display series instead of the sermons on the sermons archive page. We're finally happy to announce that the series functionality of Advanced Sermons is a getting a BIG improvement. We think it is important that Advanced Sermons tailors to all churches, so we're rolling out a new feature called 'Series Archive'. This will give churches to option to displays and sermon archive, series archive, or both. When a user clicks into a series it will display all sermons within that series. The series archive will also include features like pagination and filtering which the current shortcode option does not.

We understand that not every church has the ability to create a custom image for each sermons. Not only that, but this can be a lot of work. We're currently working on a new feature that will default the sermon image to the image of the series that is applied to that sermon. If a sermon featured image is uploaded, it will override this and display the custom image. This new feature will only be available with Advanced Sermons Pro and would need to be enabled in the settings of Advanced Sermons.
